Jefferson…merit[s] support
[Excerpt]
Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson has done a solid job leading the court and should be re-eelcted.
Jefferson, who launched his legal career as a top-tier appellate lawyer in San Antonio, inherited a court in transition when he suceeded Tom Phillips in the chief justice job. Because of turnover, five seats were on the 2006 ballot.
The chief justice is deservedly well-respected among the state’s lawyers, and his leadership merits a full six-year term.
Before being appointed chief justice in 2004, he served on the court for three years. He was elected to the remainder of Phillips’ term in 2006.
